Alexa - Fad or Future: The Results

The results are in, after experiencing the creepy laugh and nearly dying of a heart attack, plus finding it a little annoying to have Alexa bound to a fixed location, I can confirm ... I'm not a fan. I'm going to say this is a bit of a fad. I get the hype behind Alexa, but I just don't understand why I wouldn't use my phone's assistant, one that I have on my person at all times.  That being said, I know a lot of people love Alexa and the various Amazon devices that support it and I'm very grateful of the thoughtful gift, my brother knows I love tech things. It's been an interesting test but i'm not going to be buying into the ecosystem any further than I already am. See you next time,  Dave.

Alexa - Fad or Future: Creepy Laugh

There have been a number of stories circulating the newspapers about Alexa's creepy laugh. I have to say, I thought I was going mad the first time I heard it. Laughing is not the only creepy thing she does. At around 1 am (I was alone downstairs in my house watching the end of batman begins) when Alexa suddenly started to read out a message I'd received. I nearly jumped out of the window. Around two weeks later, I was cooking and setting timers using Alexa and listening to a TV show in the background when all of sudden, "hahahaha". WTF?! Thankfully my laughing experience was during daylight but I have to say, having experienced both strange talking episodes, I'm turning her off for a while. A review post of my testing experiences shall follow shortly.
